| Frequently Asked Questions |
- Must I take all the CIS classes or can I take other similar courses?
Magnet students must be enrolled in the CIS-designated classes in order to progress through the program.
- Can I be in band and/or sports?
Yes. Many CIS students are in band, orchestra, chorus, art, and athletic teams. It just takes good time management skills!
- What if I want to enter medicine, law, engineering, or some other field rather than pursue an international career? Is CIS still for me?
Yes! CIS will prepare you for admission into competitive universities to study in whatever field you are interested. Emphasis is placed on high-level thinking skills which will prepare you for college and life. We believe that a global education is increasingly important for every career in the “global community” of the 21st century.
- What universities have CIS graduates gone on to attend?
To name a few—Georgetown, George Washington, Harvard, Yale, Cornell, Vanderbilt, Johns Hopkins, U.S. Naval Academy, Duke, American University, and Richmond International College in England, as well as such Florida schools as FSU, UF, UCF, USF, Rollins, Stetson. We still hear from CIS graduates whose careers range from doctors and lawyers to a company representative for the Pacific Rim.
- Is transportation provided?
Any student outside the DP zone will need to arrange for their own transportation for the school year.
- What is the background of the faculty?
The CIS faculty is an outstanding and dedicated team of teachers, most of whom hold advanced degrees. They have varied international experience, including participation in study-abroad and travel-abroad programs. One teacher, for example, worked for Indify, a volunteer organization which travels into India to improve living conditions. Others have studies and lived in such countries as China, Italy, Australia, Korea, or have chaperoned trips to other countries.
